Mulching can bring your potted plants and planter boxes back to life. Due to their smaller square footage, they are a great way to add different splashes of vibrant colors to complement your plants. Since soil from potted plants tend to dry faster, mulching will conserve soil moisture which means you save time and money from having to water less. In commercial areas with potted plants or planter boxes such as shophouse exteriors, malls or restaurants, a decorative soil cover will allso help to hide unsightly soil from plain view.
Things to note:
- Do not hose water directly onto mulch, as the force of water will displace the mulch. Instead water lightly with a watering can.
- Ensure there is a few inches of depth (without soil) at the top of pot or planter to contain the mulch in place.
